Hickory Forest Road Closed Thursday, Sept 2nd from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Our contractor notified the Roads Committee this morning that the debris from trimming trees and foliage along Hickory Forest Road needs to be chipped on-site. The equipment is large, the road is narrow, and the process cannot be interrupted to allow vehicles to pass. This road closure was not anticipated, and the FFHA Board wishes to express regret that we are unable to provide more notice.
Hickory Forest Road Closed Sept. 3 for Road Work
Residents of Hickory Forest Rd/Ln should expect road work to occur from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM on Sept. 3. The scheduled time was chosen to avoid inconveniencing residents traveling to and from work. No delays are anticipated. Residents with extenuating circumstances may temporarily park on the side of Fairview Forest Drive on the two asphalt pads just below Hickory Forest Road. There is room for a small number of vehicles. Please plan accordingly.
Other Roadwork and Landscaping Projects
Many residents should expect delays over the next several weeks. Teams of contractors are working all over the mountain. Shoulder work and asphalt repairs are currently underway to prepare the following roads for chip and seal this fall: Black Oak Forest, Weeping Cherry, Maple Forest, and Hickory Forest Road and Lane. The aforementioned roads will likely be serviced on the same day.
Residents may only receive a few days of advanced notice before work begins. This work requires us to be flexible due to the fact that the contractor schedules our relatively smaller jobs around much larger jobs elsewhere. Our flexibility also results in a lower contracted rate, which helps to prevent our individual assessments from rising.
Other roadsides are being cleared of excess foliage to make them more passible by large vehicles, such as garbage trucks, fire/ems, delivery vehicles, and moving trucks.
